Looking for an exercise class after work? The West Chester Activity Center could be the place for you. Perhaps you are looking for something more personal than classes. Did you know that personal training is also available?  David Blount, BA, CSCS Fitness Professional, is the owner and president of Strong Foundations Fitness, and both he and his fitness staff are available for consultations as well as small group and personal training at the Center. Evening classes in zumba, coresolid / pilates, hip hop fit, yoga and LEAN (boot camp circuit training class) are offered on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

For those who prefer to exercise alone, the Barrington/HeritageSpring Fitness Equipment Room is also available to meet your needs with treadmills, elliptical machines, bikes and free weights. Free use of the exercise equipment is a benefit with your yearly membership.  Perhaps the evening classes just do not work with your schedule. Did you know that a variety of daytime classes are also available? Classes focusing on better balance, weight resistance, Tai Chi, movement and dance as well as Fit for Life (a small interval training experience) and personal training are offered at various times throughout the day.  There is a little something for everyone whether you are a novice or a seasoned exerciser, young or older.  These classes will help get you moving, laughing and feeling good. Interested but still not sure? Call 779.7360 or make an appointment with Wellness Coordinator, Julie McCarthy to find the spot that’s just right for you. You will be glad you called!

Strong Foundations

You know the West Chester Activity Center offers classes geared to the older crowd, but how about something that will make the youngest and most in shape sweat? David Blount of Strong Foundations Fitness specializes in the design and implementation of safe and effective strength training and conditioning programs that provide guidance for fitness, nutrition and injury prevention. “I would just like to see more people from the community – the younger crowd – coming through the door,” he said. The word still needs to spread that the Activity Center has something for all ages. “You don’t have the big gym costs,” he said. There are no contract commitments to classes and the center itself is not an intimidating place. “It’s kind of something for everyone,” he said. Some of his most popular classes include Zumba, Yoga, Core Solid Pilates and Family Self Defense. A class he wants to grow, he said, is an intense LEAN boot camp, a circuit training class that includes upper body, lower body, abs and cardio. Whatever a person’s fitness goals, Blount said there is a class or personal training sessions to fit their needs. The first class is free. After that, each class is $8 or a package of 10 is $60.
